Day 265 by ErinBird Day 265 by ErinBird
Name : Love the job ~ 265.366

"Choose a job you love , and you will never have to work a day in your life ." - Confucius

I work part time at my local hairdresses and it really sucks :/ But then again , i'm only 15 so I only sweep , make tea and shampoo . But I could not see myself doing it all my life .. it'd just be so boring ! And so today I was talking to my art teacher and she was telling me how much she loved her job , and it didn't even feel like a job to her . I then heard this quote later on in the day and I just felt like I had to make a photo from it .

I would do something in art but mostly everyone in my family is in healthcare (my mom's side is all Filipino so the pressure is alot) I respect nursing but its not for me. I keep hearing that I'll be a starving artist, and that its too competitive, and that employers will never hire me, mostly from my parents and some of my family members yet my friends and cousins say to try something in art. This is going to be a hard decision.

I know exactly how you feel . I'd love to do something with art as i'm really good at it , but my parents are really pushy and want me to aim high because they don't want me to have a bad job and struggle in life because being an artist is hard and competitive . I know they're doing it for my benefit , but they want me to do law and i'm really not sure if I'll even like it ): sigh .

I don't know about law isn't that one a dying job? I mean I've heard stories and read articles about law school grads that have complained to their school because they couldn't find a job. I don't know about now though but employers might still be picky with who they hire.

I see where this Confucius fella is coming from, but I don't totally agree. I think a lot of people, especially nowadays with the internet and alternative resources, have found dream jobs, but they still put in lots of work (sometimes more than those with standard jobs). I think what it does though, is it makes it way easier to work way harder.

It's still a catchy saying :P

I like this peace, maybe its because I can sorta relate to it. I waitressed and hated it. I also volunteered to help at a local elementary school with the art classes. The teacher was a woman I had grown up with and as such we'd had many discussions about the paths I was choosing in life. During my senior year we started talking mainly about jobs and college and I told her I didn't know what I wanted to do because I didn't want to be like either of my parents and work jobs I hated, she told me to do somehting I loved and then told me exactly what your teacher told you about loving her job.

Awww yes :aww: It's good when teachers sit down with you and talk to you like , it makes you feel a bit different about life . It also makes you want to work harder for getting a good job so you can be happy in the future . :aww: I hope you get a job you love ! :giggle:

True, but it all depends.
My dad loved electronics and such, but now he's around it so much and there's so many negative experiences he's had at work, it's just not as fun anymore.
For him, it was like listening to your favourite song on repeat 24/7
However, that's of course not always the case ^v^
All depends on how well you do, how often you do it and all of the pros and cons and the people~
;v;
I, myself, want to be an artist/animator (something along those lines, I know there are a lot of jobs in those categories but I'm still looking around cx) or some sort of vet~ Art and animation, because I absolutely LOVE it and I don't think there are too many ways it could bug me, and vet because I'm good with blood, putting animals down if I have to and such, I'm known for being amazing with animals (I caught a runaway horse once and got a dog on my back- which it wouldn't do that for anyone else) and my dog is epileptic so I have some experience~ ^v^ and I'm really calm, especially in hospitals and such where everything is organized. Unless my frustration comes out, but I could teach myself against that.

XD sorry, I'm rambling. I like to talk about stuff like this <v>;;

Aww it's actually very good that you know what you'd like to do for the future ! A lot of people I know have no idea what they want to do for the future .. and I guess it's great that you know what you want to do , and that you're good at it . Personally , I'd like to become a lawyer :aww: I love English and debating and i'm always proving people wrong haha :giggle: I would love to do something in photography .. the problem is I don't know if I'd be able to earn stable wages from that , and that could be a big problem .

i would say that every single job will have bits you hate. I do a lot of design for my work, and i love that part. but meetings... i could do without meetings. but the good outweighs the bad.

Also, you have to discover yourself. I got out of school thinking i wanted to be a programmer. I loved to do it on my free time. Then I got a job doing it, and i hated it. you have to discover what you love to do for work before you find work doing what you love.
