"the past is a nice place to visit , but certainly not a good place to stay ." - unknown

Memories are special , and they are lovely to reflect back on and remember the good moments in your life ! But , make sure you don't live in the past - make sure to move on . For example , if you were in a relationship and you broke up with your partner , it is nice in a way to look back on those special moments you had with them , but don't live your current life always wishing you could go back to that relationship . Move on . You'll probably find someone new if you move forward in life . Life goes on - so don't get stuck behind !

The pages in the background were actually pages ripped out from my old diary . I like to have diaries as I find it a good way to vent my anger/stress/pain out by scribbling my feelings all over the pages , but reading the diary again made me feel quite sad , so I tore the pages out , not wanting to read them again and feel sorry for myself . Before I threw them away I used them for the background of this photo , and whilst taking the photo I realised , the diary is similar to the quote: it's fine to look back on the past , just don't live your life stuck there - move forward .
(not my quote)

Mhmm. This is a good message. We must learn from the past, not live in it. Also... well there is little technical about it :XD: A good thought as a whole and I don't think there's more to say :)

The past is like an anchor. It's something that you know won't change anymore and that you can hold on to, a steady, static place you know and know you can feel comfortable in. At least, for most people it is like that (I can't really speak for people who grew up in problem situations - except teasing, but for me that happened only in school and for me the 'past' is much larger, wider than that).

But indeed, you need to go forward and can't cling to the past too much. Difficult at times. The world is changing and not always for the better. Sometimes I think I don't necessarily need to go back to MY past, but it would be nice to LIVE about 30 years ago again, because the living WAS easier then.

Ah, your words are always so true! Yes, describing the past like an anchor is a really good comparison. Yes, life does seem to get a lot harder as you go on, and I know i'm still 16 and young, from my past experience, it feels like it does get harder further down the line anyway.

Don't worry. Not always necessarily harder. Yes, you will get more responsibilities when you grow up (and probably most noticeably when you move out of your parents' house (I don't know if you already have, so maybe you have already experience with that)). Either way, something new always comes with a learning process. And that can be hard at times. But you're not alone in that and you can rely on that the same counts for everyone. Of course the changing times (like currently there's still the economic depression) can cause hardship too.

I'd rather say that "life goes in waves". There's waves where things calm down and get easier, comfortable again. But change always brings challenge. And then it becomes easier again. As long as you can prevent that you're constantly in change, things will look up. But of course life is never going to be as easy (and carefree) again as when you were 6 and your parents were protecting you from what the real world is like and making sure you had a home, food and a nice life.

aha yes well i'm 16 so yeah I do still live with my parents (: i'm trying to appreciate as much as I can now because I know moving out will be hard. But of course, it'll be nice to have a house to myself (: There are always perks. And your example with the waves is a really nice idea - I was expecting you say how life goes up and down like waves, but the idea of how it unexpectedly changes is really good and very fitting to life (:

Moving out doesn't need to be difficult. It can be really really nice, too... especially when you move in somewhere with a boyfriend. (I did so with a girlfriend back in the days). ^^
