*I accidently put 'be/act more mature' twice - my bad !

I've made quite a few resolutions this year .. hopefully i'll achieve them by the end of 2013 . The ones in the picture aren't my own resolutions , but these are ones I saw other people trying to achieve by the end of this year . The book I used is actually a diary I got so I could write down the foods I eat because i'm trying to be more healthy (:
This is a different type of picture , I did the obvious editing of the lists over the diary on purpose but ah well , i'm still just experimenting .
What are your new year resolutions ?
I found out as a fact that 80% of people fail their resolutions each year , oh well .

Interesting idea - this showing resolutions. And you know, one may as well put "be" and "act" more maturely as separate things because being and acting are not the same! :)

I myself do not make resolutions but my grandma and mum told me I should make a list of wishes until January 1st, 9 p.m. because supposedly all wishes would come true. I don't believe it but still made a long list of wishes just for fun. A lot of them were like "Be happy", "Others should be happy", many were more concrete and were like "Find a girlfriend", "Finish exams successfully", "Win a contest", etc. and some were like "Smile much", "Laugh much", etc.

Actually, I could check whether any are fulfilled. *checks* Ok, it seems that four are more or less fulfilled:
- "Fix health (at least to the point where it doesn't disturb)". I have one health problem but I started taking medicine and I may just be keeping it somewhat at bay.
- "Do good deeds". Well, I picked up a ring for a girl, helped my dad carry the wood, etc. Well, it's something but maybe I should have wished for more. :D
- "Smile much". I seem to be smiling a lot recently, and I was surprised at myself having a smirk while washing dishes, I'm even a bit smiling right now. What the heck? :D
- "Successfully fly home and then back". The planes were late but at least I wasn't late and managed to fly back with just small delays. I call this success. :)

I still don't say I believe in this wish stuff. But it's cool to look at it like it is working. And I hope it was interesting for you to read this. :D

I don't really believe in wishes either . I .. I think it's nice to believe in them , but I don't think they come true . Anyway , I like your resolutions a lot (: I hope you meet them by the end of this year . "Do good deeds" was one of my one as well . I feel like I do too much for myself these days and I should start doing selfless things to others . 2 days ago I brought a sandwich for a homeless person which made me feel so much better for helping someone . I love the feeling of helping people , just makes me feel like such a better person .

There's something I do each year though . I have a big jar , and throughout the year I write good things that happen to me and achievements and I put them into the jar . Then on December 31st , I open the jar and read all the good things that happened to me last year . I've been doing it for 4 years now and it gives me something to look foward to on new year's eve .

Aww, thank you for the kind words. :aww: And I hope you meet your resolutions.

Wow, I'm impressed. I could do something like this, too, some time! I'm not sure why I myself want to help people. In many cases, I guess I just want people to like me and feel thankful towards me. "Thank you very much" may just be the most beautiful phrase for me, not "I love you" which I hear a lot and I doubt its sincerity... :D But even if people didn't reward me with appreciation (but it considerably motivates me), I still feel I want others to be happy, too. I want to contribute, I want to hold hands with everyone and walk into the sunset... :D Maybe it is engrained by the society, maybe it is empathy, maybe it is love, maybe it is "Happiness is only real when shared" (you may want to use this quote, it's from the film "Into the wild"), maybe it is all together. :)

I like this idea. I'm considering doing the same. Though, I feel there may be just too many things to write. :D Not that I'm that happy. It's because I have always been that unhappy so I started appreciating the smallest of things like someone smiling at me or getting at least a passing grade. :D
